Unless
you’ve been hidin’ in a cave in Kandahar or been trapped in
a sarcophagus somewhere in the desert, you may have seen last spring’s
Hollywood hit film, The Mummy Returns.
This spring Universal Pictures will unleash The Scorpion King with the
WWF’s own “The Rock” recreating his role as the battle
ready Scorpion King – this time around with our good friend, Branscombe
Richmond, playing the King’s brother in the new Hollywood blockbuster.
The combined efforts of The Rock and the high-tech Hollywood effects wizards
did such a good job of captivating the audience in The Mummy Returns that
Hollywood top brass decided to give the character a flick of his own,
and in true Hollywood style, spun the spin-off into this latest title
in the ongoing desert saga.
As the Scorpion King, The Rock must, along with his brother, defeat the
evil warlord, save the girl (played by hottie Kelly Hu), and become the
first pharaoh of Egypt – all in a days work for The Rock, who is
helped not only by Branscombe’s character, but also by Michael Clark
Duncan as Balthezar and Peter Facinelli in the role of Takmet.
It’s no secret that Branscombe has more than a few on-screen appearances
to his credit, having co-starred in the hit TV series Renegade, and in
big-screen films alongside stars like Steven Seagal in Hard To Kill. Oh
yeah, and to keep up his chops, he also fronts the Renegade Posse Band,
playin’ gigs from Daytona to Sturgis, recruiting guest string-slingers
like Kenny Olson, lead guitarist for Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker
band.
Branscombe managed to make some time between riding, trips to the set,
and rehearsing the band before rushing off to Daytona, and invited us
to his house to give us the skinny on the new picture. We also managed
a peek at his growing collection of bikes.
You should be able to see The Scorpion King in a theater near you just
about the time this rag lands in yer grimy hands.
